Advocates for Women’s and Kids’ Equality (AWAKE) advocates for the advancement of women and kids in Tennessee through education and policy change. We are a grassroots nonprofit that makes an impact through bottom-up and top-down approaches to change making. This dynamic position is designed to lead the coordination and facilitation of AWAKE’s community programs. Our primary education program, I Am an Advocate, is delivered in partnership with Nashville nonprofit agencies and serves students enrolled in after-school programs and camps and women in rehabilitation programs for domestic violence, sexual exploitation, and a history of drug use. The goal of this curriculum is to teach students to be advocates for themselves and for others in their community. The Program Director is responsible for onboarding and managing program partners and leading program delivery to students alongside AWAKE volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Program facilitation and delivery: Typically, partner sessions are delivered on a weekly basis for 6-8 weeks. Each session is one hour in duration. Two or more sessions may run concurrently within the same week.
Data collection and evaluation:
Administer pre- and post-program surveys to students and site coordinators at each partner program
Collect data with accuracy and fidelity to show program progress and completion through measurable and distinguishable means (method and tools will be provided)
Conduct thorough analysis of evaluation feedback, providing trends and recommendations for improvement to AWAKE ED and Board of Directors
Manage the organization of program data in AWAKE’s online management system
Volunteer management and coordination: communicate with education volunteers and delegate individuals to support partner programs throughout the year
Relationship management:
Monitor engagement with current and past program partners to ensure we maintain a positive and responsive ongoing relationship
Represent AWAKE in the community in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission and values
Strategic Program Growth
Conduct ecosystem analysis, creating a pipeline for program partner recruitment throughout the state
Manage communications involved in initial outreach, onboarding, and logistical details necessary to onboarding new partners successfully
Work closely with ED on the research, planning, and implementation of new programs or collaborations
Grant requirements:
Monitor AWAKE’s status toward fulfilling grant requirements, communicating any concerns with appropriate lead time and participating in determining creative solutions when necessary
Provide knowledge and experience to support ED in writing new grant proposals as it relates to programming
Board of Directors Engagement
Ability to work with the board in order to fulfill the organization mission as it pertains to educational programming
Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions, including reporting at monthly board meetings
Other tasks as assigned by ED and board members
Qualifications:
Detail-oriented with ability to work and organize within online management systems
Skilled communicator and relationship builder
Effective time management and prioritization
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, social work, or a related field
At least one year of teaching experience
Familiarity with virtual platforms including Zoom
Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of AWAKE
Understanding/interest in social justice and advocacy highly encouraged
Fluency in Spanish highly desirable
