I Am an Advocate program Facilitator

Compensation: $25 per hour
Total Hours: 12.5 - 15 hours per week
Advocates for Women’s and Kids’ Equality (AWAKE) is a grassroots nonprofit organization that advocates for the systemic advancement of women and young people in Tennessee through education initiatives and policy change. Our theory of change addresses both bottom-up and top-down approaches to changemaking.
This dynamic leadership position is responsible for facilitating our primary education program, I Am an Advocate. The I Am an Advocate Program is an evidence-based curriculum that aims to support participants in the development of interpersonal and self-care skills, sociopolitical consciousness, understanding of leadership, and communication and action planning skills essential to advocacy work. It is offered over an academic year in partnership with Nashville area middle and high schools. Programs are provided at the schools during their designated group times,
The Program Facilitator will be responsible for facilitating a minimum of four I Am an Advocate Programs concurrently per contracted school year. Contracts begin late August and end early May the following year. Pay for each session is based on 1 hour of prep, 30 minutes of set up and clean up, 1 hour of class.
Responsibilities:
Facilitation
Facilitating the scheduled I Am an Advocate Programs concurrently per semester.
Guide group discussions and activities using the provided curriculum
Adjust the curriculum to fit the needs of the participants
Data Collection
Enter Qualitative data into the AWAKE Drive
Administer pre- and post- program surveys to participants and site coordinators at each partner site. Turn in all Data to the Program Director.
Partner Engagement and Reporting
Maintain a positive relationship with community partners
Provide the Program Director with weekly program updates including challenges, successes and ideas for improvement.

Mondays 8:55am -9:55am @ HG Hill MS
Tuesday (Bi-monthly) 12:50- 1:50pm @ Wright MS
Mondays 3pm-4pm @ Valor MS
Wednesdays 3pm-4pm @ Valor HS
Thursdays 11am-11:45am @ Lawson HS
Qualifications:
Must be available during program hours
Ability to pass internal and partner background check
High School Diploma or GED *Required*
At least one year of experience teaching/facilitating programing to middle and/or high school students
The ability to understand and respect values, attitudes, beliefs, and morals that differ across cultures and identities
Effective time management and prioritization
Detail-oriented with proficiency working within online management systems and virtual platforms including Zoom and Google Drive
Skilled communicator and relationship build
Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of AWAKE
